It’s no secret by now. You’ve probably already heard it a dozen times. But just to reiterate, nude is most definitely, a flattering look for everyone. Whoa! Calm down! I’m talking shoes here! Get you’re mind out of the gutter and into the world of cute footwear, please. Nude pumps have been the go to color lately over classic black, and nude flats are a must-have for any working girl, pumps and close-toed shoes are more appropriate for cooler days and nights. Now that the days are getting warmer and the nights are getting balmy, we’re going to need to find another pair of versatile, leg-elongating nude heels that are more appropriate and in style for summer. Whether you’re looking for a casual summer sandal, or something a little more sexy and high-heeled (or wedged … very summer appropriate), you can never go wrong with nude since it doesn’t break the leg into sections and keeps a continuous line, giving the illusion of an extra few inches of length. Plus, strappy designs and cutouts or peep-toes help ventilate and keep you fresh and flirty. Click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite nude shoes, perfect for any summer occasion! |

The San Diego Museum of Art‘s Board of Trustees has named Roxana Velásquez Martínez del Campo to the role of executive director. She replaces Derrick R. Cartwright, who last October took over for Mimi Gates as executive director of the Seattle Art Museum, now in the throes of budget-balancing initatives. A trio of deputy directors—Julia Marciari-Alexander (curatorial affairs), Julianne Markow (operations and finance); and Katy McDonald (external affairs)—has served as co-interim directors of the San Diego Museum of Art since Cartwright’s departure. Velásquez, who was born in the United States and raised in Mexico, seems well-suited to lead the Balboa Park institution, which was established in 1922 and occupies a Spanish Renaissance-inflected home designed by William Templeton Johnson. She has served as the director of three major museums in Mexico City: Museo Nacional de San Carlos, Museo Nacional de Arte (Munal), and most recently, Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes. “Roxana brings to the museum an impeccable ability to manage all facets of a major arts institution, a strong network within the global art community, and a cross-border cultural perspective,” said Ken Widder, president of the museum’s board of trustees, in a statement announcing the appointment. Velásquez will take office early this fall.

Designed for the “after-hours athlete,” the Chalk ping-pong table by studio Aruliden for Puma puts a seriously social spin on the game. A chalkboard surface allows players to keep track of the score, claim the next game or provoke opponents with a little written banter, and the convenient compartment underneath safely stores beverages and party favors for the ultimate in casual recreation.
Each handmade table features solid ash legs and a steel chain-link net—a major step up from the oft-crude tables tucked away in garages or basements.
Chalk hits The Conran Shop NYC on 3 June 2010, where celebrity table-tennis star Susan Sarandon will battle champions Marty Reisman and Franck “Spin” Raharinosy for its launch. The table will also sell online for $3,900.
