We’re not entirely sure what to make of this film, but isn’t that some of the point of Kenneth Anger‘s work? The filmmaker/artist was hired by the Italian fashion company Missoni to create a promotional piece for their upcoming fall and winter lines. Outside of it being interesting that they managed to get Anger to make something for them, we’re not sure the final product does such a stellar job at showing off the clothing they’re trying to pitch (though we suppose that doesn’t matter all that much when it comes to high-end fashion). According to ArtNet, the film was made outside of Milan and all of the people who appear in it are members of the Missoni family, who were also the focus when Juergen Teller photographed them for their current spring/summer collection. Redefining the pictogram, these Japanese characters transform to the animals they describe

Transforming Japanese letters into a playful creatures, Bandai‘s line of shape-shifting animals inform while entertaining.

Called Mojibakeru (Moji is the Japanese word for “character” and bakeru means “to change”), the collection of six plastic toys represent 犬(dog), 虎(tiger), 魚(fish), 馬(horse), 鳥(bird) and 龍(dragon). Each character is available in black, white, yellow and blue, maximizing your language-bending skills.

pI hate to admit it, but every time I have a DIY job that requires paint or stain, I buy a crapload of these disposable foam brushes above rather than use the few bristle brushes I own. Cleaning bristle brushes properly requires loads of mineral spirits and running the tap for what feels like 10 minutes per brush. I’m not sure which is worse for the environment./p
