Periscope Camera by Yaniv Berg
Posted in: UncategorizedHere’s another conceptual project from Shenkar College of Engineering and Design student Yaniv Berg (see his coffee machine in our earlier story), this time a digital SLR camera where the lens and body are merged to form a kinked cylinder.
The controls would be along the side of the Periscope Camera with the display at one end and lens at the other.
Berg was inspired by a traditional reflex camera, which is held close to the photographer’s stomach and looked down into while shooting.
The camera could also be balanced on the lens to form a stand for viewing the photos.
All photographs are by Sasha Flit.
Here’s some more from the designer:
Periscope Camera
This project is a Digital reflex camera (DSLR). The camera was designed as part of a course “Business Class” in shenkar academy 3rd year. The camera body and lens was designed as a continuation that connects to it, creating an elongated body curved end , that turns to the user interface
Along the side of the camera there is another interface which control the details of photography. I wanted to make a refreshing change at the accepted form of professional cameras,to soften it, but to maintain its professional appearance. Through the use of camera I wanted to get different photography experience.
I took inspiration from the use of the old reflex cameras, that the eyepiece was located at the top of the camera, and the photographer was cradling the camera close to his stomach during photography. So I designed the camera to match the pose I was looking for , in the ergonomic sense. Experience continues when you want to view the photos, when turning the camera, the interface turns to image display mode, the display is rotating 180 degrees and the screen is directed toward the observer
Impotent information :
The project was made during my 1st semester on my 3rd year (3 out of 4 , i have just finished the 3rd)) in Shenkar Academy of design in Israel.
The photos were taken by Sasha Flit.
The advisers of the project were Eyal Cremer & Michal Hen Shahnai.

Recession Chic – High-End Designer Items For $150 Or Less!
Posted in: UncategorizedNo matter what your fashion sense may be, any true fashionista would love to have multiple designer items in her repertoire. While there a many new (and quite pricey) brands out there that are totally stylish and lust-worthy, it’s the big-name design houses that have earned their reputations and really get our blood pumping! I’m talking Fendi, Gucci, Prada and other familiar high-end design labels. Maybe a whole closet, or even a whole ensemble, of designer duds may be more dream than reality at this point, but there is no reason that we can’t flash a little designer wear in our everyday outfits. It’s true that you can never have too many designer sunglasses, but it’s also a very predictable way to gain designer-item cred. You’d be surprised how many other super cute and super practical designer pieces are out there and within your budget! Want to start adding some big names to your accessories? How about for only $150 or less? Of course you would! Just click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite designer items (besides designer shades) that are going for $150 or less! |
Label Love: Laid-Back Luxury by Geren Ford
Posted in: UncategorizedBe ahead of the curve. When looking for an impressive look that’s stepping outside the box, you need not look further than the collections of Geren Ford. Gaining inspiration from her travels and the surrounding art world, her designs mimic the beauty she sees. This designer blends classic style with fashion forward edge. I think the reason Ford has such great balance in her designs comes from her childhood which was split between living in New York and Southern California, gaining both East and West Coast style. Geren Ford has created a unique blend of clothing that holds on to what it means to be a woman without sacrificing individuality. I’m in love with her latest Fall collection. The colors are all deeply rich – they just take your breath away. Ford stands by her philosophy of “subtle yet sophisticated design” and it really shows. You’ll definitely stand out in these designs. The only difficult part will be deciding which pieces to choose! |
Midweek Beauty: Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder
Posted in: UncategorizedI have recently become obsessed with dry cleansing my hair. I’ve never been the type of girl to wash her hair everyday… heck, I’ll admit that I’m an every other day kinda girl (and sometimes a day more). My hair is fine and straight as bone, washing it too much takes it from shiny and soft to straw way too fast. However, during the summertime, this every other day routine can get a little, um, sticky. Let’s be real, even if you are an everyday type of girl, busy schedules and summertime heat can make you yearn for a quick freshen up when one isn’t available.Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder has come to my summertime rescue, and I know it can do the same for you. I’ll concede that hair powder may conjure up images of old ladies in wigs, but I promise you the hair powder I am talking about will leave your hair more Gisele Bundchen than Marie Antoinette. This stuff will make your hair look clean and fabulous with extra volume and shine… even better than had you washed it that very day. Just hold the can 10 inches from your hair, spray thoroughly concentrating on oily areas, let dry and brush out. What’s more, it can be used on clean hair to tint (comes in blonde, red, brown, white and black) and style (although you’ll have to apply a styling wax first to get it to stick). So easy! And faster than wash, condition, blow dry, straighten, etc, etc. What are you waiting for?! Perhaps this will make you more like Marie Antoinette… you can have your cake and eat it too. |

Martha Stewart Presents TV Specials to Debut with Focus on Fashion Designers
Posted in: Uncategorized
On the set of The Martha Stewart Show, Stewart and Vogue editor at large Andre Leon Talley bond over their admiration of fashion designer Ralph Rucci.
Multitalented Martha Stewart recently announced that the television portion of her omnivorous empire has found a new home on cable TV, and it’s not only The Martha Stewart Show—her wide-ranging chat show (lace-covered Easter eggs! a Halloween/pet extravaganza! faux bois 101!)—that will debut next month on Hallmark Channel. Stewart is also bringing the 24-hour basic cable network novel programming, including an hour-long talk show version of Whatever, the addictive satellite radio show hosted by Alexis Stewart (Martha’s daughter) and the effervescent Jennifer Koppelman Hutt. There’s also Martha Stewart Presents, a new series of primetime interview specials that will kick off on September 13 with a celebration of “the women who dress America”: fashion designers Diane Von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Tory Burch, and Jenna Lyons.
Timed to coincide with the close of New York Fashion Week, the original special will feature Stewart going one-on-one with fashion empire builders to discuss their passions, their ideals, and the trends they favor for the seasons ahead. “I’m looking forward to hosting these primetime specials for Hallmark Channel and to having very candid conversations with these four interesting and influential women,” said Stewart in a statement issued by the network. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring our viewers a different side of the world of fashion and a better understanding of the challenges and rewards of being on fashion’s front lines.” Can’t wait ’til September 13 to watch Stewart talk fashion? Check out clips from last spring’s episode of Martha featuring guest Andre Leon Talley (clad in a photoprint cape designed by the inimitable Ralph Rucci).
