pA Swedish outfit called A HREF=”http://www.tat.se/” TAT/A (The Astonishing Tribe) is a software technology and design company with “a passion for developing stunning visual experiences in the form of mobile user interfaces, combining the best of aesthetics with technology.” In the following demo video, TAT shows us their awesome ideas for “A HREF=”http://mobileuserinterfaces.blogspot.com/2010/09/future-os-screens-experience-video.html” The Future of Screen Technology/A,” including what A HREF=”http://gizmodo.com/5627530/the-future-of-screens-circa-2014″ Gizmodo amusingly refers to/A as the “iPad Stretch:”/p

Hands On: the show in a shoebox

As part of the London Design Festival, studioXAG has created an exhibition of product design in a giant-size shoebox

Hands On recreates an ‘idyllic Edwardian parlour’ as if it were an enormous shoebox house. Everything  from the traditional fireplace and floorboards, to  sash windows complete with shutters has been built in cardboard while, above, two giant cardboard hands appear to be playing with the objects.

Dotted about the room are real products from young designers, all of whom are Central St Martins graduates, as are studioXAG themselves.

Featured products include Hektor Mamet’s Leaning Chair

David Clarke’s Deep Spoons

and Reiko Kaneko’s Drip Teas & Lip Tease teacups.

Hands On is at the Arts Gallery, University of the Arts London, 272 High Holborn, WC1 from September 16 until October 29.

pSuzuki explores sound through designed objects, which have included hand cut and pressed records, singing tea kettles and a jellyfish theremin in the past, and, most recently the Color Chaser, a robot that produces sounds from markings on a piece of paper; Rec/Play pens, writing utensils that record and play back sound; and the Barcode Book, a graphic story that reveals information about itself through barcodes in the illustrations. /pa href=”http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/yuri_suzukis_barcode_book_and_other_magnificent_sound-producing_objects__17384.asp”(more…)/a

J.L.G. Eguiguren’s insta-cocktail package design concept

pHere’s an awesome package design concept done by Spain-based design student José Luis García Eguiguren. His A HREF=”http://lovelypackage.com/student-work-jose-luis-garcia-eguiguren-3/” Mixed Emotions concept/A keeps vodka and one of a variety of mixers in the same bottle, but separated like epoxy; when it’s time to quaff, you pop the top, put your mouth to the dual tubes and you’ve got a party in your mouth./p

pEguiguren’s vision (hit the jump to read it in his own words) is that the different mixer’s flavors–strawberry, passion fruit, etc.–would evoke different emotions in the imbiber. And hopefully the bottles are made out of plastic, so whomever drinks that “vodka + anger” mix on the right can’t smash the thing over a fellow partygoer’s head./pa href=”http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/jlg_eguigurens_insta-cocktail_package_design_concept_17383.asp”(more…)/a

Skeleton-like automotive manufacturing innovations, part 2: Yaroslav Chumachenko’s modular Maserati concept

Foregoing the complicated and chaotic arrangment of the Birdcage’s tubes, Chumachenko proposes a neat system of standardized, modular components, rather like vertebrae and ribs, that can be assembled like Lego into platforms for a sedan, an SUV and a rear-engine car. /p
