Daily Obsesh – Cheap Monday Infinity Scarf

imageWe’re in love with eternity scarves! They’re so versatile and hip. You can wrap them around your neck twice for a nice thick cover up or have them hang loose and give a chunky appeal to your outfit.

This eternity scarf by Cheap Monday is great because it’s more of a tube scarf and is loose enough to give you freedom with a jacket, but close enough to your neck to keep your warm and cozy throughout your day or night.

The ribbed look of this scarf is super sexy and cozy and black goes with everything, so there’s no going wrong with this scarf!

Levi’s Made & Crafted

An Amsterdam offshoot puts a modern twist on a denim legend
mcl1.jpg

Borrowing their logo from a sample piece of denim a salesman could leave with a customer in the early 1900s, Levi’s Made & Crafted is “a journey to define what modernity is within Levi’s,” explains M&C’s Samuel de Goede. At its core is history over heritage with garments that look to the future while retaining elements of the past—qualities that come through mostly through hidden details or particular stitching styles. Since launching in the spring of 2010, the Amsterdam-based brand has been perfecting its pared-down approach and its current digital launch shows just how strong simple can be.

mcl2.jpg

One of the two brands by Levi’s XX (extra extra strong), features of the experimental label’s collection include buttons made from the same cotton as the oxford shirt it’s sewn out of (they just compress it), signature curved pockets sewn free-hand, cinching in various places like the hip and, of course, selvedge twill fabric.

mcl3.jpg

Constantly refining, de Goede explains “As with the brand, this is just the beginning. The site is a work in progress, which will evolve with time, but as a team we felt that we wanted to tell the story to a broader audience.” The Amsterdam team worked closely with multidisciplinary think-tank Brooklyn United to develop the website, but as for each collection de Goede says “we aim to keep things close to the heart, doing as much as possible ourselves, in house.”

Made & Crafted sells at specialty stores through Europe and Japan, stateside at Barneys New York stores and online at Net-a-Porter.

Daily Obsesh – Glacier Park Travel Mug

imageIf it’s morning, don’t bother talking to us until we’ve had our latte. Actually, make that our second latte. We can’t function without caffeine and we’re proud to say to it out loud. We even carry our brightly-striped mug around to let everyone know that coffee is our friend.

And while our mug might not be the prettiest one in the bunch, it sure does make us happy. Why wouldn’t it? We like the stripes, it has a handle, keeps our beverage of choice (again, it’s coffee if you missed that) warm, has a lid so it’s functional and makes road trips (or field trips to the coffee shop) easier because we don’t spill all over ourselves. It’s the perfect mug and we love it. So join us as we hold our mug high … but not too high because, well, we still need one more refill to muster up the energy.

Packable Bags

Seven compressible carry-ons that scrunch, roll and fold away for easy storage

Advertorial content:

When Virgin America asked us to road-test luggage, we followed their lead and looked for bags that not only look good but offer some well-designed practicality too. Saving space in both closets and luggage, low-bulk bags tuck neatly away when not in use and easily unfurl for weekend getaways or to bring back souvenirs. Some pack into their own included pouch while others require your own folding ingenuity, but all the finds below promise to get you and your stuff from here to there with minimum fuss and maximum style.

Extra Small Aviator Bag

Although Red Oxx claims this bag is small, its size is deceptive thanks to a deconstructed design that skips pockets and other features to leave plenty of room for stuff. Made in Montana of sturdy material and with reinforced pressure points, a heavy-duty zipper unzips all the way around allowing it to lie nearly flat. Get it from Red Oxx for $30.

Tote in a Pouch

This nylon bag, in a neutral khaki that goes with anything, folds down and stores in the adorable small pouch provided. It’s affordable too at $38, and available from the MoMA Store.

Lightweight Travel Duffel

Patagonia’s medium-sized version of the packable bag manages to squeeze in extra features including a side pocket with an internal key clip and handles that convert to pack straps. Recently updated with a new super lightweight, double-ripstop nylon in either a yellow-mustard combo or a brilliant turquoise, the duffel stuffs into its own storage pocket. Check the Patagonia site next month when it will be available for $70.

StowAway Bag

It doesn’t get more straightforward than the StowAway Bag, which comes in a zipped pouch and unfolds into a large and lightweight duffel. Made out of water-resistant nylon, it comes in a variety of colors and StowAway donates all profits to charity. Pick one up from Flight001 for $24.

Packable Duffel

For a classic option, Eagle Creek’s Packable Duffel zips into a built-in circular pouch. You can hand carry it with two smaller handles or use the larger strap for over the shoulder toting. It sells on Eagle Creek’s site for $28.

Week Overnight Bag

From Jack Gomme’s “Light” collection, the Week Overnight Bag includes an interior zippered pocket with a detachable zippered pouch. Handles on the outside adjust and their coated fabric is not only very resistant to the elements but acquires an attractive patina with wear. Flight001 has it for $180.

You can get as crazy as you please with color and style details, but there’s nothing better than the classic blue denim, cropped and buttoned jean jacket. Gwen Stefani Is New Face of L’Oreal Paris

imageIn a move that will have red-lipstick mavens nationwide cheering, L’Oreal Paris has announced the signing of Gwen Stefani as the mass-market giant’s new face.

‘I can’t believe I get to be one of the L’Oreal Paris girls. I love playing dress up, on stage or shooting videos, it’s always been one of my favorite parts of being in a band,’ the platinum blonde told People.

The first collaborative ad will be – appropriately enough – for Infallible Le Rouge Lip Color, a long-lasting soft-shine lipstick that comes in a full smattering of every shade of the beauty rainbow. We’re placing bets that the retro-fabulous Ravishing Red will be the songstress’ shade of choice in her debut.
