Mother’s day Gift Tags from Bloesem for you

ILOVEmyMOM_white_tags

My sons came home today from school with self-made presents for Sunday … Mothers Day that is … the excitement on their faces and happiness to surprise me made me feel very special as a mom.

But I am still a 'daughter' too and feel very lucky to have my mom with me here in Singapore at the moment … so in honor of my mom and my love for her I made these tags for her presents… something self-made too 🙂

If you haven't had time yet to make something and want to use these tags too, please feel absolutely free by downloading the template  …. and print the files.

Wish you a very lovely weekend and hope to see you back on Monday. ~irene xoxo

Zodiac cards by Annemoon van Steen

Annemoonvansteen

Receiving a handwritten letter per mail is simply the best. I so enjoy it when people take the time to actually sit down and write you a personal note. It does help that Annemoon her handwriting is very beautiful I must admit 🙂

Annemoon van Steen is a Dutch illustrator and graphic designer who recently created a set of very original zodiac cards. Based on her lucky charm dolls

The zodiac cards are currently only available in Dutch but I'm hoping Annemoon will consider making them in English too. If you would like to order them you can send Annemoon an email.

Flex silicone pots by Tomas Kral for Praxis

Product News: Slovakian designer Tomas Kral has created a collection of small silicone pots for Hong Hong design brand Praxis.

Flex by Tomas Kral for Praxis

Called Flex, the pots make use of the material’s flexibility and have covers that are fixed at one side but flap up at the other. “Looking like small animals, the flexible lids can be opened easily and always close back, so the containers never stay opened where they are not in use,” says Kral.

Flex by Tomas Kral for Praxis

Praxis produces silicone desktop products by a number of European designers including Alexander Taylor, Big-Game, Alexis Georgacopoulos and Tomàs Alonso. We featured bird-like silicone containers by Swedish designers TAF for Praxis back in May.

Flex by Tomas Kral for Praxis

Tomas Kral has a studio in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he also teaches at ECAL. Other designs by Tomas Kral on Dezeen include his graduation project combining cork and glass, and a pencil case with teeth.

Drawing Machine by All Lovely Stuff

Product news: this wind-up toy by British design brand All Lovely Stuff creates abstract art when let loose on a sheet of paper.

Inspired by the cotton-reel tanks they played with as children, All Lovely Stuff designers Ed Ward and Carl Clerkin adapted the mechanical toy to hold a felt tip pen.

Drawing Machine by All Lovely Stuff

To propel the machine, simply wind the cotton reel while holding the wax cylinder, then place it down and let go. The height and position of the pen can be adjusted to make bigger or smaller circles, or straight lines.

The machine comes in a self-assembly kit containing an oak cotton reel, a clothes peg, a felt tip pen, a rubber band, a dowel and a piece of wax, and is available online from All Lovely Stuff.

Drawing Machine by All Lovely Stuff

Earlier this year Dezeen filmed a movie with designer Carl Clerkin, who told us about his aim to create functional wooden products with “a little bit of charm about them”.

Other machines we’ve featured on Dezeen include a rotational moulding machine that inserts spontaneity into serial production and a contraption that mimics birdsong – see all our stories about machines.

We’ve also featured lots of toys on Dezeen, including wooden toys that incorporate plugs and clothes pegs and a knitted tree filled with knitted creatures.

Calendar round-up 2013

2013{tea towel calendar from foglinen, image by Bloesem}

Hello everyone! Every new year I feel brings a fresh start. Why is that?
I want to have new stationary, new clothes and a new set of mind to do
things better than 2012. Let's start with new calendars. Believe me, you
need the perfect one to look at everyday for a year. These are some of
our favorites here at Bloesem. A clean simple one for my wall with lots
of space for me to doodle on would be my choice. After the year ends,
you can look back at all the things you've done for the year.

Moustache

The many different ways to illustrate a moustache by Blush Face. I find this simple and funny and would definitely make a great gift for the moustache in the family.

Kalenteri

Kissanpäivät's simple illustrated 2013 calendar. What I love about this one are the colors. Blue, teal and turquoise have always been my favorites.

On to the next page for more of Bloesem's pick for 2013

Kauniste   Finland   Dozi  Star  Tree_2013

HARVEST_darlingclemintine

Darling Clementine's 2013 Scandinavian inspired Calendar. Bold colors of floral illustrations and the best part printed on recycled paper too.

Star

What does your horoscope says about you. Keep track with the stars with this Astrology wall calendar by Prismatic Print Shop.

Kauniste

Re-use and wash. What a unique idea for a calendar. Kauniste's 2013 Kitchen Towel calendar. Have them in color or black and white.

Dozi

Dozi paper wall calendar. Simple designs that would go so well with the theme of our office actually.

Comic_2013

For all you typography lovers, here's 365 of them for the year. Typodarium 2013 by Slanted

Finland

Another illustrated calendar we love to add to the collection by Bambula. And there's space for you to doodle on too.

Chalk_2013

Weekly reminders before you're out the door. Definitely handy for the whole family to take part in. Chalkboard Calendar by Mixed Mangos.

Tree_2013

Wood Stump Calendar by Anthropologie, use them as paper weights at your workspace. A cute little addition for the table.

House

This home calendar by Paper Sheep takes you around the world of 6 different apartments. A great story behind the artist's travels. I love the San Francisco one.

Letterpress

We love paper especially when they are letterpressed by Paper Boat Studios. I wouldn't want to write on these because they are too clean and pretty dont you think?

Polaroid_2013

This is something you could plan out for next year as well. Gather all your pictures to make a calendar. We love the polaroid look in this one. Poladarium 2013.

This ends our 2013 round-up, and we hope you found your special calendar for 2013! What's your pick, do share.

NEW: Unstationary by ontwerpduo

Unstationery
{image by Jurianne Matter}

Papers, soft colors and simple designs, what’s not to love everything about Unstationary by Ontwerpduo. Starting our own stationary line has always been in the works here at Bloesem, and seeing great products like these makes us want to work on our line even more.

The first thing that comes to mind when I see grid paper is math class in high school. Countless doodles and drawings on them when I should be writing down numbers and equations. What about you? A familiar feeling and I love the simplicity of the grid design for note pads and little cards for little messages.

Check out their collection of work on their website. Take a look at the ‘Light Forest‘ which to me is almost dream-like.   [CONTINUE READING]
