Ce dernier, proposé par GMP Arquitectos , L35 et ribas & ribas arquitectes, fait du stade un lieu à part et celui le plus moderne et développé du XXIe siècle. A découvrir dans une série d’images.
I am sure there is a very good reason for cell phones to have a rectangular battery. I’m not going to dispute the reason but instead present Ji Hye Park’s idea. The Tilt Battery is simply designed with a sharp slope on one end. This is so that it’s easy to load in the battery and removes all ambiguity of which ways to slide it in! Awesome!

I am one of those who have suffered many a chipped nails and nail polish thanks to the existing design of the paperclip. Men, you can mock as much as you want, but I am sure the women-force will want you to embrace the 45-degree angle-induced paperclip redesign called the ‘Clip-Up’. Simple solution to a very common problem!

Ponding is a washbasin that allows you to recycle the basin water in a much easier manner. A strategically placed jug right below the basin is what does the trick. The concept of reusing greywater has been around for a while and its interesting to note the different solutions that the designers come up with.

You may disconnect the charger cable from your device, but the truth is that power consumption continues till you actually switch it off from the mains. We are well aware of this problem and before this Brady Bunch, we have had quite a few designers come up with solutions to resolve it. What we have here is the PowerCutter, a charger cable with a built-in switch inside the socket. One of the entrant wires connects directly to the switch, and it is turned off when the socket is not connected to a device.
As the designers explain, “ thus the main circuit is inoperative and it does not draw energy even though the adaptor is still plugged into the wall outlet. Once the socket is plugged into a device, switch will be operated and the circuit is connected.”
PowerCutter is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.

The traditional door catch is still being used in many countries. Although simple to use, the design has two major flaws. Because of its orientation, the catch tends to get in the way and hurt people and as a result, it bends and gets deformed. The simple solution is to change the vertical hinge to a 45° angle. This ways the moving latch hangs down flush with the door (thanks to gravity) and doesn’t come in the way. And like the design team puts it, “Safety is ensured and the lifespan of the latch is extended.”

Imagine getting soaked by a car-splash, on your way to work or an important meeting. I’ve been through it one too many times thanks to the heavy monsoons my city experiences. The Rain Shield offers a shield-like umbrella and is crafted with a single curved steel wire and a telescopic rod. It has no pointed ends or sharp edges, and it won’t blow inside out in windy conditions. Sounds too good to be true!
But it is true, because I saw this at the red dot award: design concept ceremony in Singapore. Designer Liu Li-Hsiang demonstrated to me how this umbrella easily folds and compresses into a 180-millimetre-diameter disc that can be stored in a bag. Have a look at the video and judge for yourself.

I love the McDonalds French Fries and the red box that they serve it in. But I think the potatogether is a tad better concept and something all French Fries vendors should consider. The bag makes it easy to get to the fires and once torn open it serves as a handy plate or dish. Simple and functional, I think design is a winner!
