That’s Some funny Sh*t

title="dogpoo-bag"

No matter how amusing the packaging, in the end, it’s really just a glorified sh*t bag. The irony continues…

Pope Benedict XVI (Anti) Condoms

A little dose of irony for your amusement… This condom wrapper was designed in response to Benedict XVI declaring that condoms are not a valid weapon against AIDS while on tour in Africa.

A new trend in water packaging?

Just last week we posted about “boxed water is better”, an innovative concept to package water in cartons. We have to wonder if this new find of Aquapax’s packaging is what is to come for the plastic happy bottled water industry. Nonetheless, we’re quite smitten with Sun House’s quenching illustrations.

“Aquapax is all about making a positive change to the way we consume portable water. A responsible package and a carbon balanced footprint makes ecological sense.”

For more on their process and thinking behind the redesign you know what to do.

It’s Planting Season

Since we are at the tail-end of winter we felt these greeting cards by Botanical Paperworks were appropriate for those of you gearing up for spring. If you plant the paper in a pot of soil, the seeds will bloom into colorful wildflowers.

Feeling Optimistic? Have a drink.

Cheers to that!

“Our client, John Glaser, is hoping to help people think more positively about the economic situation with his fin hand bottled blended scotch. To the optimist the glass (bottle) is half full…”

Snapple is Getting a Makeover

Snapple is undergoing the most significant makeover in its 37-year history. Here’s an excerpt from their press release:

.. Snapple will retain its clever and light-hearted brand personality, but with a more premium, mature execution. Gone will be the old logo and packaging, replaced with a sleeker bottle and label design that speaks to its new formula.

12 Inches of Packaging

War Design, a creative agency out of Australia, approached this packaging problem straight on. Here’s what they had to say about it:

“Imagine being briefed to create striking packaging for a product named after the height of the bottle it’s packaged in. With only small print runs required, there was a real opportunity to have some fun. The solution was to design labels that were also 12 inches long, printed onto packing tape using different colours to identify different variants. The labels wrap around the bottle creating a powerful and memorable branding device.”

Big Thank You to fellow Visual Culturist Shannan for the tip.

An Ecological Brew

In case you were wondering, this new “green” beer has absolutely nothing to do with shamrocks, leprechauns, or four leaf clovers. The innovative packaging for Cascade Green, brewed in Australia, was design by none other than Landor.

The project included brand strategy, naming, and tone of voice, through to packaging, point of sale, and merchandise design. When designing the packaging, the objective was to, where possible, minimize the carbon footprint… And wherever possible materials were selected based on their recycled content, including the 100 percent recycled stock for use of the point of sale materials and cartons.”
