Reading Light est un des projets du studio de design canadien The Federal. Basé à Ottawa et dirigé par Ian Murchison et Rohan Thakar, ce studio a cherché à repenser la lampe de chevet en proposant le remplacement de l’ampoule par des LEDS. Un résultat visuellement très réussi à découvrir en images dans la suite.
Mondialement connu, le pont rouge Bay Bridge, symbole de la Baie de San Francisco, va accueillir à partir de début mars 25 000 LEDs éclairant ainsi ce dernier avec beauté pour les deux prochaines années. Une conception appelée The Bay Lights signée Léo Villareal à découvrir dans la suite de l’article.
La société allemande ABS Systembau a pensé ce « GlassFloor », un système d’éclairage LED au sol permettant d’installer facilement des lignes de terrains pour différents sports et de changer la configuration en l’espace d’une seconde. Une création ingénieuse à découvrir en images dans la suite.
The design you’re about to look at goes by none other than the name “BOB”, and has one intention: to make you forget about how lovely it is with its simple “it just works” design sensibilities. This device works with LED bulbs, connects with one small black cord, and is made almost entirely of hand-made elements.
The Wood you see throughout the design is uniform and made of essentially the same wood material and grain while the whole design is made to be adjusted simply. Absent here are the ability to make radical adjustments and real lighting changes other than off and on. In this way, this lamp is both traditional and modern – the look is what catches one’s attention.

Named and shaped after the constellation Cassiopeia, this artistic watch design uses a series of zig-zagged multicolored LEDs for a surprising yet intuitive way of displaying time. To tell the time, simply count up the lights for each digit. Purple light designates double digit hours, blue designates single digit hours, and pink/red represent minutes in single and double digits respectively. Better work on your math skills if you want to sport this one!

Dans le cadre des JO de Londres 2012, retour sur cette sculpture et installation de l’artiste italienne Monica Bonvicini. Un mélange et travail entre miroir, transparence et éclairage LED. Intitulé sobrement « Run » en partenariat avec la société Zumtobel, elle mesure près de 9 mètres de haut.
The latest in a trend of garden & light combinations, the Aura lamp is an experiment in interactive objects that combines nature, water & light in a unique design that strengthens the bond between object & user by changing color with a simple touch of the plant’s leaves. The system uses an aluminum base with LED RGB modules that shine through the glass container. By touching the plant the user grounds the system & activates color changes, power & light intensity.

The Weather Yesterday est une installation réussie du studio Troika. Cette création permet en effet de montrer la température et la météo précise du jour précédent. Située dans le Hoxton Square jusqu’au 9 septembre, l’objet composé de LED est une commande de RIBA pour le London Festival of Architecture.
Lit is an eco-aware, unbreakable light bulb that revisits the old incandescent. Giving timeless design a new meaning, the bulb adapted to different types of lighting fixtures and is customizable because the sockets are modular. The designer claims it to be the world’s first light bulb with a hybrid technology – LEDs and Optical fiber. Apparently the technology gives an incredible lifetime to the bulb, with an excellent dimmable light quality trough the time. Money savings and reduced enviornmetal impacts are assured!
