KL Design Week 2011: Oh-and-Ah

Ohandah.com

Last week I visited the Kuala Lumpur design week 2011, which, unfortunately, I only heard of via twitter at the last minute… the organisation of the KL design week had not done much to promote this event…

BUT meeting some of the designers, crafters and artists who were showcasing their designs was very nice! I enjoyed talking to them and I'm so very happy to see there is a lively KL craft and design community… although they could use so much more help and support from the community.

Today I would like to introduce you to a couple of the artists that I met last week. Starting with the five playful designers from Oh&Ah. They all have very different backgrounds and personalities, but their collection prints, accessories, t-shirts and collectibles fit perfectly together.

The drawings on the concrete walls inside their booth were fantastic and of course I had to buy some brooches and cards. You can visit their website and shop right here.

and speaking of classics… how about the gorgeous Poeten sofa by Finn Juhl.

Please let me know what your favorite sofa is!

Joon & Jung

Joonjug

I'm in the mood for Joon&Jung today… i just love their work very much and believe not shared it with you before… Joon&Jung is a multi-discipline design studio based in Eindhoven, but the founders are originally from Korea. Combining their background and what they have learned and seen at de the design academy results in these delicate but solid looking designs.

My favorites are the 'natural speakers'; the architect curtain; pillow blanket and the living light

Stephanschulz2

I'm starting this week with a 'symbolic' post, two tables in one… that is what i need this coming week… I wish the table would come with two 'me's' too… so much work I would like to finish this week…

The desk is just great and love the idea by German designer Stephan Schulz. Thanks Marjon for sharing with me.

The concrete series for Domestic by Stephan Schulz are amazing. I abslotlute love concrete used with warm textiles, carpets and pillows, it gives a great industrial look and any of these accesoiries like the bowls would be very welcome in my home.

Here you can find all the designs by Stephan Schulz. I'm sorry I don't know where you can buy any of the designs. I think it is best if you send Stepahn an email for more information.

Excavations by De Intuitiefabriek

37_deintuitiefabriekexcavations
Just got an email from a collective of 4 female designers; Amba Molly, Carolina Wilcke, Eefiene Bolhuis and Eva Gevaert who call themselves 'De Intuïtiefabriek' (=The Intuition Factory) telling me about their latest project : “Excavations”.

Excavations” is an unique collection of treasures, dug up from the corners of their imagination. As seen in archeological excavations these objects reveal a glimpse of a culture, her people and their customs. Varying from hand tools to vessels, from brushes to spoons; each unique and handmade. Put together in an amazingly beautiful and fine crafted cabinet.

Poloma_barnelsnobel

Last week i told you about Singapore InDesign and the repost I have written for design-milk. Apart from visiting Dream interiors that day, I also went to a gorgeous furniture shop called Pomelo… a relatively small shop, but with a great selection chairs, tables, lights and accesoiries… some of which were fun for me to recognise from previous posts i had done… like the prints from Bold&Noble

Poloma

George Nelson Bubble lamps , seeing them grouped together at Pomelo was really nice and this fun bench by Sam Hecht for Established&Sons

Bouroullec_osso

…'osso' chairs by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for mattiazzi… beautiful detailed information about the chair right here at designboom.

Like i said Pomelo in SIngapore is definetly worth visiting when you are in SIngapore, the owner of the shop is a great guy with a lot of love and knowledge about design.
