Monday’s quick start: Tiles by Patricia Urquiola

Academytiles

That I believe Patricia Urquiola is the best designer in the world … is again proved to me by her for new collection glazed porcelain tiles called Mutina Azulej for academy tiles

Just spectacular in every sense of the word … 9 single patterns make up to 27 different patterns and come in three different colour ways … Nero, Grigio & Bianco

If Rik and I ever were to buy a new house I would most certainly incorparte tiles in our home!

Monday’s quick start: Mirage by L&G

LG-Studio_Mirage_Coffeetabl

Not often do I open newsletters … just too many arrive in my inbox but the glass table above caught my eye and I immediately recognised the Ladies & Gentlemen studio signature. Their new collection called Mirage is again truly beautiful and very now. Mirage is inspired by a kaleidoscope with it's principle of multiple reflection.

Dylan Davis and Jane Lee are Ladies & Gentleman and meeting Jane last year made me want to foolow what this talented couple is doing.

A bit of site searching brought me to Sight Unseen and apartment theraphy where Jane and Dylan recently shared their home. I love the living room and it reminds me so much of the living room from design heroes Ray and Charles Eames … how lucky are they to have found this vintage Florence Knoll sofa.

Hayon Studios it is!

Gardenias_hayonstudio

A BIG YEAHHH for Hayon Studios and their 3 latest designs … (you know superstar Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon, who is younger than me!)

Gardenia … a collection of furniture and pots for the garden

The Catch chair for Danish brand & Tradition … beautifully organically shaped and inspired by 'curves'

and 'Ro' for another Danish brand Fritz Hansen … where 'Ro' means tranquillity in Danish. I read on the site that the name 'Ro' was chosen because it captures the point of the chair in just two letters, thus reflecting the Nordic approach and concept of beauty… nice we like that!

Shop stop: P5 in Singapore

P5_front

If you are wondering where to go for the best design furniture in Singapore how about starting right here at P5. Brands like moroso, e15, artek and royal tichelaar makkum all under one (beautiful) roof.

When I walked in I was happily surprised to see  the vases by Hella Jongerius when I mentioned them to the sales person he was impressed that I recognized them and understood I knew a thing or two about design  so we started chatting… Aloyus, no longer the salesperson, but the owner and founder of this shop, is as passionate about furniture as he is about food … hopefully soon he will show me around in town and chat about our love for design. P5's address.

Today I am helping you with a visual tour inside P5

ps. If you can't find it here perhaps wonderful Foundry just 5 minutes away can help you.

Milan 2013 a round-up

Milaan_1

Good morning it is Femke from Femkeido and it's so nice to be here on Bloesem today. Being an Interior Designer, Milan was the
place to be again last week. I traveled to Milan to be inspired at the Salone
del Mobile for the Milan Design Week. In this guest-post for Bloesem, I will be
sharing some of my pictures I took during my visit.

According to Tom Dixon Gold is the new copper .. what do you think?

The buzz at Rosanna Orlandi was cool as always. The best place to start my trip!

Georg

I love things colour and weird things… the table setting by my favorite design duo Scholten & Baijngs for Georg at Rosanna Orlandi was exactly my piece of cake.

Great to meet Sander Mulder in person at Tom Dixon. You can see him below walking towards his new clock,  TIME, to give it a polish using his own shirt.

Greens and plants we all love them so it was nice seeing some at wallpaper handmade this year.

Mirrors, many mirrors. I love mirrors, I also like the philosophy of mirrors. It is important to have a look in the mirror every now and then. To see what you’re doing and to decide whether you are taking the right steps. In the picture below a mirror at Droog 20+ and a just a random mirror in Ventura Lambrate.

Milan was again great to visit. Very interesting and inspiring over at my blog Femkeido you can read and see more impressions from my trip. ~ Femke

Monday’s quick start: Desinere from Singapore

Desinere.com.sg_R3_700

Rik and I scrolled around town last weekend and visited P5 (more about this gorgeous shop later this week) and supermama … there I briefly met one of the designers from Desinere … he was taking pictures of this gorgeous Paperweight called Rok  and I was lucky this morning to find them on their website

He told me he and his partner will be going to Milan next week to present their work and I am sure it is going to be a big hit! I have fallen in love with all their designs and the one I love most … is a beautiful woven basket made from leather… unfortunately NO pictures yet … but I hope soon after the Milan fair.

I wish Desinere success in Milan! It was nice meeting you. ~irene

Moe chairs by The Bureau from Singapore

Bureau_singapore

{Moe chairs by The Bureau}

Last year when Marjon I worked on a city guide of Singapore for Anthology magazine and while looking for a little shop called Nana & Bird we bumped into the guys from The Bureau. It was their funky office that caught our attention at first but soon when we started chatting we learned more about their collection Moe chairs…

Thebureau_singapore

… I'm happy apartment theraphy is helping me out today with some background info on the Moe chair: "That quote, from Kai Yeo of The Bureau, nicely sums up this latest project called the Moe Chair. The Moe Chair is the old-style school chair that used to be found in every Singaporean classroom, a visual touchstone for anyone who has been through the local school system here. The Bureau's 6-piece version on this chair is homage to the old yet has created something entirely new and still very functional."

So very spontaneously we created a mini photo-shoot and see here the result… At the time the chairs were not in full production yet… and I'm not sure if they are available via any shops at the moment… best advice I can give send these wonderful guys an email … I'm sure you will enjoy meeting them as much as we did!

ps. just spoke to Kai from The Bureau and he told me they have stock available!
