Wrangler Blue Bell

Dad jeans done right. Next level site from Wrangler’s Euro line Blue Bell.

It’s really unfortunate that you can’t get any of the clothing in Canada. What’s also unfortunate is the coolness factor of the Wrangler brand in Europe as compared to the Wrangler brand in the North America.

Ron Arad: Restless

He’s at the Barbican Centre in London, 18 Feb to 16 May. The event honors the designers success with talks, workshops, lively late-night gallery activities, and a showcase of his work. Apparently he’s a big ping pong fan too (you can check out his workshop here, and some of his pong moves)…

Tino Sehgal At The Guggenheim

This is an overhead photo from the Guggenheim this weekend (the one I took on my phone didn’t turn out, so this is from ‘the junes’s Flickr – thanks!).

The performance involved two people continually interacting with one another in a fairly sexual, slow-motion dance. The work comes from Tino Sehgal, a London based artist known for incorporating dance and performance into his pieces. Seeing it in context was great because of the response it elicited in different people as they entered the main rotunda. You can read more on the Guggenheim website (also check out the Anish Kapoor piece).

Designer Slavche Tanevsky conceived this new and more aggressive design for the Lamborghini Reventon with an environmentally-friendly mindset by downsizing the body size, though it isn’t actually a hybrid. More about it here.

Mike Ballard

Mike Ballard rules and makes my eyes hurt and mind explode. Check out this awesome piece.

Here’s a brief description from Grafik Mag online.

“Artist Mike Ballard has used the whole gallery including the floors and ceilings to create a massive graffiti and collage-inspired piece entitled The All of Everything (Art Will Eat Itself). It’s a no-holds-barred romp through the artist’s personal art history, encompassing street art, Pop art, cave art, Renaissance art, the baroque era, superheroes and shamans.”

System 180

This giant wall was built in Berlin for the annual Bread and Butter trade show (which closed late last month).

System 180 is best known for its cutting-edge steel tube furniture, however they’ve been able to apply the same technology to build this 380 meter long wall. The project utilized 12,500 meters of steel tube and 5,000 square meters of tarpaulin to enclose the large arching face of the former Berlin Central Airport. More of their interior projects can be seen on their site.

He’s showing some new work at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in Manhattan until the 13th. I totally lucked out and get a chance to see it first hand just before the weekend! You can also see more from Josh here.

Christian Faur

This work was mentioned in an article on npr this morning. I checked out his site and was really impressed with the hand cast encaustic crayon pieces. The cone shaped ends make for an unusually eerie, blurred blend of colours, would love to see them in person.
