Compact Minibus Concept

Stripped down to the bare essentials, the Dwarf minibus concept goes to show that high occupancy vehicles don’t have to be inefficient or environmentally detrimental. Each wheel is powered independently by an in-wheel electric motor and can be operated in any direction for tight turns, true parallel parking or 360 degree turns. Like its more popular compact counterparts, it also features lightweight reinforced polymers and composites for added efficiency that doesn’t sacrifice safety.

Prismatic Car

To quote designer Janina (love the name), “This car will act like a visual perfume.” Of all the descriptions for projects that I have come across, calling a vehicle ‘visual perfume’ has to be the first. However I do agree with Janina, the refractive effect of the car looks to be mesmerizing and poetic. Inspired by the prism, the car refracts and divides ‘white light’ into its DNA colors, red green and blue; to create a stunning illusion of colors. A set of wheels as flashy as this, who needs anything else on the autobahn!

Refined Roadster

BMW X MPower concept adopts the same 5.0i v8 twin-turbocharged engine of the X6 (with some added tweaks for more power), but incorporates it into a two-seater roadster for some serious whip. Characterized by elegant bimmer styling at the mouth and a wild, sporty aesthetic at the rear,  it’s business in the front and party in the back for this bad boy.

Pure and Light Wheels

The Pure Light is a concept vehicle for the elite in China, especially aimed for cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, where people can appreciate luxury. Inspired by Taoism, this 4-seater car uses superconducting magnetic levitation technology. The levitating feel and fluid form deceive you into thinking that you are gliding in space. It also uses light as a calming element and hologram technology. Simply elegant!

Stay Outta My Lane II

Cyclists can do with as much illumination help that they can get from getting accidentally hit at night. Akin to the Light Lane, the Arrow Zone performs a similar function of warning oncoming and follow-up traffic of your bicycle presence. However this sleek attachment hooks to the side and projects a distinctive arrow to the lane to the side of your cycle. It’s a detachable unit thus you can hook it to either side of the bike, depending upon which side of the road you drive. Nice concept and with a few tweaks it can go to become a real good product.

Cleaning Up The Seas With Drones

The city of Mumbai is situated by the Arabian Sea with the Mithi River flowing through it, experienced the worst ever flooding all thanks to the a cloud burst and clogged drains. Plastic bags that we take for granted was one of the major reasons why the drains went redundant and of course the high tide and choked riverbed didn’t help matters. Since man can’t take the onus of disposing waste responsible, let the Marine Drone do it for us.

The drone is basically an oversized pool net with a sensor fitted machine. It nets drifting plastic trash in a very innovative way. Several drones scout the seas for waste and use a special sensor to keep away fish and other aquatic animals. It is equipped with an infrasound system and the high-powered batteries allow them to stay in the water for more than 2 weeks.

Tailor Made Bentley

A Bentley so exclusive that there is only one unique piece of it! The Bentley ‘Tailor Made’ is a one-off customized car that uses ‘Robofold’ technology to its advantage. Basically it’s a way of building car body panels by folding sheets of Aluminum with Robots. It uses cost effective and energy conservation methodology that makes manufacturing an exclusive piece, sustainable.

Ko elaborates, “designing by paper forming allows sculptural and natural new design language in form.”

Transforming Beemer

The BMW Venture concept transforms from from a urban-commuting subcompact to  racy sportster with just the press of a button. Retracted, it’s the perfect size for zipping around the city, but extending the swing arm and front wheels gives a wider stance and added stability as well as a hot-rod style front end that adds to it’s striking aesthetic. Its futuristic style has a very subtle touch of retro-style but still maintains a familiar clean, BMW feel.

On-road Life With A Cubie

The idea of the CUBIE car stems from the fact that people waste a lot of time en route to their work place, stuck in traffic jams. Capitalizing on the future system of shared transportation, the vehicle cabin offers an environment that is conducive to multi tasking. The interior design facilitates in-car activities like holding a meeting or getting work done using the laptop. Like Qi describes it, “CUBIE performs as a low-paced moving public or private space in the street. It creates a new on-road lifestyle, helping people get out of the busy time of a day.”

Curious-Looking Citroen

Taking inspiration from a variety of natural elements like sand dunes and wood, the Citroen Origin concept combines soft but intense curves and natural wood exterior surfaces with modern features like sweeping LED lighting accents and hideaway doors. The full-size luxury vehicle is simultaneously futuristic and reminiscent of vintage car designs like the Phantom Corsair with which it shares styling cues like flush fenders, absent door handles, and a low profile. Looks a bit like a yacht on wheels to me!
