Here at Stylehive, we love the long hems and layers that have been so in style these last few years so when the cropped top, belly-baring look made a comeback, we really didn’t know how to feel. But the look has grown on us and we’re starting to love the new ways that this throw back trend has made a few modern changes. With asymmetrical hems, various fabrics and fun design details, the cropped top has never been easier to wear! We know that the cropped top can be a discriminatory piece with those of us without washboard abs left wondering just how we’re supposed to pull off this trend without looking ridiculous. No worries! We’ve got five ways to style the cropped top that all look equally fashionable! With A Cami or Bodysuit – Adding a sleek and fitted cami with matching leggings, or even donning a form-fitting bodysuit before throwing on your cropped top is a great way to partake in this trend and get a little more coverage while still looking sexy!
With Long Layered Necklaces – A simple cropped tee over jeans or jean shorts get added edge and style by throwing a few long necklaces over your neck. Let a few strands hang to the top of jeans hem to give a peek-a-boo appeal!
As A Sweater – A looser fit and thicker material makes the cropped sweater a great alternative. The added coverage of long sleeves balances out the short hem and makes the belly-baring less the focal point, but still allows you to try the trend out!
Try An Asymmetrical Top – This is one of the most popular and versatile cropped top styles. With the sides of the hem hanging long and only the center portion short, it gives your belly-button a chance to make a peek-a-boo appearance, without having to take center stage! Plus, this top looks great over leggings, jeans, skirts and pretty much any bottom!
Layer Over It – Love the cropped style, but need just a little more coverage? Throw on a loose fit cardigan or vest and don’t button it. It adds warmth for these cooler days, while giving just the right amount of added coverage for those of us who aren’t quite that bold!
