Spin-offs – A Dutch Springboard For New Product Ideas
Posted in: UncategorizedBefore lounge chairs, design lights become available in design stores or even turn into design classics, they have to be invented in the first place. This is what the design initiative Spin-offs is all about.
Artistic researcher Wopke Oldenburger and Dutch designer Han Koning founded Spin-offs as a breeding place for experimental prototypes and new product ideas in the heart of Groningen. Their continuous experiments with woods, metals and plastics are turned into almost anything from artistic sound machines to nature inspired furniture (all photos by Jelle de Groot).
Due to the experimental character of their work, most of their products are available as limited editions only. We don’t consider their products being “limited” as a bad thing since Oldenburger and Koning have to keep on speed with their hands-on experiments ready to make their next beautiful mistake.
To stay updated with their projects check out the Spin-offs weblog with monthly fresh results.
