Sketchbook Project Seeks Your Scribblings
Posted in: UncategorizedThe Sketchbook Project is back. Now in its fifth go-round, the initiative of the Brooklyn-based Art House Co-op invites creative types from around the world to sketch according to one of 30 themes, from “Happy thoughts” and “Storybook” to “Dirigibles and submersibles” and “Help!” (indecisive types can opt to be assigned a theme at random). Participants are asked to donate their finished sketchbooks to the project, which will be exhibited in galleries around the country (“like a concert tour but with sketchbooks”) beginning next March. After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view. The best part? Anyone can participate. Just sign up to receive a bar-coded Moleskine, fill it with art, mail it back, and you’re guaranteed a place in the collection. Those ready to sketch their way to immortality should sign up by October 31 to participate.
