Simon de Pury and Jerry Saltz Among Untitled Art Show Casting Judges
Posted in: UncategorizedBecause we find the concept endlessly fascinating, we probably won’t be shutting up about the Sarah Jessica Parker-helmed reality TV show currently titled “The Untitled Art Project“ (which could make points with us by keeping that name). At last we left, the aforementioned actress was defending the show as casting sessions kicked off across the country. Fortunately, Art Info had writer Sarah Douglas on the ground at the auditions in New York, seeing just who would show up for such a thing (the line was around the block), as well as getting the skinny on some of the judges for this initial phase — some notables include Simon de Pury, Jerry Saltz, and here in Chicago, Jim Lutes. Judging from those names, it seems like the show is being embraced by at least the upper-echelon of the art scene, but we’re still not going pro or con until we see the first challenge the selected artists are forced to participate in (we’re thinking “paint something that makes us think while mud wrestling”). Also, can we say that the show would continue to add points from us if they hire Xing Xin as a judge, but he has to do it all from inside his little box?
