Serge Lutens Water Lip Color
Posted in: UncategorizedDubbed “makeup without artifice,” Serge Lutens’ Water Lip Color adds subtle stain to lips in two perfect, of-the-moment colors. Chardon, a plum color, comes the closest we’ve seen to matching Clinique’s ’90s hit “Black Honey,” and Safrané channels an older era with a bright red that skews toward orange for a more modern touch. Either shade works with most skin tones and palettes, making them staples for any occasion or outfit.
A curved applicator helps in following the curve of lips and overall precision, a feat that proves tricky at first due to the thin consistency of the color. Once mastered, the moisturizing color goes on evenly and layers well to vary intensity.
The chic black faceted tube has a luxurious weight that will satisfy esthetes, as will the tan and black box it comes in. While we rarely review makeup, the overall quality and effect of the Water Lip Color has me hooked on the brand.
Both colors run €65 from Shiseido online or through
Barneys stores.
