Public Architecture, the non-profit group who founded the 1% Program, encouraging firms to promise to spend 1 percent of their time doing charitable work, will see its long-time executive director stepping down. John Cary, who has been with the group for the past six and a half years, has announced that he will be leaving the group. During his time there, Public Architecture has designed a number of projects, largely centered around the Bay Area. The 1% Program has been more widely known, signing on big companies like Perkins+Will, HOK, HermannMiller, and Sappi. According to the San Francisco Business Times, Cary will be replaced by the organization’s founder and current president, John Peterson.
