Redesign Valentine’s Day

redesign-v-day.jpg

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and, for many of us, this is kind of a drag, right? If you’re in a serious relationship, do you really need a nationally celebrated day to remind you of your love? And, if you’re not, does Valentine’s day force the issue? Furthermore, as Alissa Walker points out, “this holiday purposefully leaves out an entire portion of the population, who spend the day ashamed about their singles status on Facebook.”

Sounds like it’s time for a redesign, and Studio 360 (who brought us the awesome x.mas and Gay Flag redesigns in the past) invites you to do just that. To get you thinking, Alissa’s posted a brief history of the evolution of Valentines—from ornate, 19th century lace cards to the Sweethearts “Fax Me” conversation heart—on her blog. Also, hear her on this week’s Studio 360, discussing “why cupid’s stupid” and what a V-day redesign will really take.

To submit your work, upload them to the Flickr pool here. Submissions posted before midnight Sunday, February 7 will be eligible for mention on the show.
