Prince Charles Wins the Anti-Modern Battle, Gets Richard Rogers Removed

You’ll recall back in April when the starchitects of the world banned together to fight off the anti-modern force that is Prince Charles, who was actively trying to convince a developer not to follow the plans laid out by Richard Rogers. But even though they had assembled as an impressive of a team as ever there were impressive teams, it apparently wasn’t enough to fight off the Prince, as it was announced this weekend that Rogers designs have now been totally scrapped, with the developer now hunting for a new, less-modern architect to work with on the project. This, of course, has made a good number of architects livid, particularly Rogers, whose gigantic multi-million pound project has just gone up in smoke:

He later told the BBC: “If he wishes to live in an era which no longer exists, then that’s up to him but whether everybody else has to live in that era, I don’t know…”

“Why is he different to anybody else? Is he an architect? No. Has he some professional knowledge? No. Does he have a passion? Fine, he can join the rest of the people who have a passion.”
