PearsonLloyd’s new PARCS office landscape

Designers continue to wage war against the cubicle, with the latest shot having been fired by London-based firm PearsonLloyd. Behold the new PARCS office furniture system, designed for international office furniture manufacturer Bene, debuted at Vienna’s Design Week:

A new generation of worker is no longer confined to their desk, instead using laptops and mobile phones when it is convenient, comfortable and conducive for concentrating or communicating. A hybrid between architecture and furniture, PARCS offer a range of different places and spaces in which to conduct informal meetings and discussions; take a few minutes away from the desk to relax; give a casual presentation; or find a semi-private place for concentration or a personal call.

“Most managers think that if you are away from your desk, you’re not working,” explains PearsonLloyd co-founder Tom Lloyd. “It needs progressiveness to recognise that someone who sits on a sofa can still be creating value for the company.” Hear hear!
