Ohio Decides to Make Its Hot-Selling New License Plate Its Official State Plate

Per usual, when we write about license plate design, you readers go nuts. When last week we posted about the state of Ohio selling their new bright-yet-bland pastoral plates at a record pace, all the while mocking those Ohioans who enjoy this sort of messy, pointlessly ornate drivel, we were called some names and disagreed with. So why not raise the ire and the temperature around here once more? Ohio, absolutely proving that it’s no New York or Montana, has been so pleased with the sales of said new “Beautiful Ohio” plate, has decided to make it not just a special, personalized offering, but the design of its official state plate. While still not the worst offender in the nation (you know who you are, Alabama, Arizona and South Dakota), we still remain disappointed in the Buckeye State. Even more so now. Fortunately, we’ll always have Vermont and Delaware, who have always known how to leave a good thing be.
