New venture: Brunner’s got the Ammunition to bring solar to the masses

In a bid to bring good design to solar power, Robert Brunner’s Ammunition product development firm has teamed up with Noribachi, a “cleantech venture acclerator,” in a partnership collectively called Regen.

Regen will develop solar products and, more importantly, actually work with manufacturers and distributors to bring these products to market, hopefully ending the days of pie-in-the-sky labwork that never sees the light of Wal-Mart. “Our ultimate goals are 1) To make useful, beautifully-designed, light-powered products accessible to the greatest number of people possible, and 2) To sow the seeds of a smarter power-management standard for personal and home electronics everywhere.” The company plans to do this by focusing on tech development & licensing, business partnerships, and the actual design of products.

Says Robert Brunner:

We’ve spent a lot of time working in and thinking about the consumer electronics space. It became clear to us that doing something genuinely new and interesting would mean taking a closer look at the whole dynamic of how energy is produced and managed. Today, the average consumer isn’t empowered to take control of his or her energy use. To really change that you’d have to reinvent the products around us and design new ways of influencing and managing energy use. We believe we can do better than the status quo, so we decided to create products that could help people change the energy equation.
