Maarten Baas Takes Real Time to the iPhone

You may have decided to skip going to Milan this week, what with all those “who needs another chair?” questions, but that’s not to say you can’t bring a little something home with you while it all plays out in Italy. Maarten Baas, the designer with vowels to spare, has announced at the fair that he’ll be releasing one of the pieces in his “Real Time” series, which premiered there in 2009, for the iPhone. As you might remember from our post about this project of Baas’ when he was showing it off in Miami last December, the piece is “Analog Digital Clock” wherein every minute an actor repaints the number(s). Best of all, it’s only a dollar. And we’re pretty confident in saying that that’s likely the least expensive thing you could purchase at the entire fair.
