Albert Lamorisse‘s classic children’s film, ‘The Red Balloon,’ (France, 1956) never ceases to win hearts with its whimsical yet poignant, and near silent, tale of a young boy’s friendship with a red balloon. The film stills below remind me of Blanca Gomez‘s elegant, playful artwork.

Janus films has released a newly remastered 35 mm print, but the clip below gives a nice slice.
