La Boca and Damien Hirst Among Winners/Finalists for Best Art Vinyl Awards

Yesterday, we talked about the Royal Mail‘s issuing of stamps celebrating the design of iconic album covers and now here we are again with another bit of cover talk. Art Vinyl, a company who makes products that allow you to frame LP covers has just announced the selections for their fifth annual Best Art Vinyl awards, along with the top 49 other runners-up. British design firm La Boca took home the big win this year around, for their work on Muse‘s album The Resistance. Great also to take a look at all the other nominees, which include another La Boca nod, Damien Hirst for The Hours, and the re-purposing of Hiroshi Sugimoto for U2‘s latest. If anything, it’s just nice to see the designers predominantly mentioned somewhere and finally get some credit, since we see these covers every once in a while on iTunes or the like, but when was the last time you got a chance to read any liner notes?
