Kinesis keyboards take ergonomics to a new level

The average keyboard basically looks like a map of Manhattan, with keys jammed into every square inch of space available.

Then there’s the Kinesis Advantage Pro keyboard, the surface area of which appears to be mostly smooth plastic. Why? Well, long answer–a lot of thought went into this puppy, which has been around in one iteration or another since 1992.

The ultra-ergonomic keyboard features separate key wells for each hand to minimize strain, separate thumb keypads to offload Enter, Delete, Return, Space etc. to the mighty thumbs, concave key wells to reduce finger extension, a “lateral tilt” design to elevate the thumbs above the pinkies, integral palm support, an optional foot-pedal to offload whatever keystrokes you want, and more.
