Japanese space-saving kitchen appliance

At first glance, yes, I thought the same thing as you: That thing is friggin’ absurd! It only seems less ridiculous when you consider the above product’s intended market: Japan.

Your typical Tokyo kitchen looks like it was designed by the same guy who does airplane bathrooms, and a Japanese friend assured me that Japanese moms are experts at cooking full meals for four by rotating dishes among the single burner, microwave and tiny oven found in most kitchens there. So Chuo Sangyo’s contraption above, which will fry an egg, make a single slice of toast and a cup of coffee, is probably a godsend in Gokokuji.
