Iconix in Talks to Buy Kenneth Cole

Iconix Brand Group, a New York-based licensing company, could soon continue their buying streak, with the news that they might soon be the new owners of Kenneth Cole, if current talks take both companies in that direction. Already owning brands like Rocawear, Candie’s and Starter, among many others, you might recall that in April of this year, they branched out and snapped up the rights to Charles M. Schulz‘s beloved Peanuts characters. And, as Bloomberg reports, since Kenneth Cole has been losing money for the past two years, Iconix also has a history of stepping in to buy when a brand is suffering, like they did last year when they took control of Marc Ecko‘s label after the designer had overspent and under-managed the company. However, with the Cole deal, should it go through, at least Kenneth will be keeping the brand in the family, as Iconix is run by Neil Cole, his brother.
