This demo video seems to take forever (and the music doesn’t help), but the concept is interesting: The Bloomframe is a motorized balcony that appears and disappears at the touch of a button.

The Bloomframe isn’t exactly new, in fact it started generating blog buzz in early ’07; difference between then and now is it’s finally in production, selling in Holland, France, Spain, and Portugal.

But I have to say, once I got over the “wow” factor, I started asking myself: How is this better than just having a regular balcony? If my apartment had a balcony, I can’t see how making it disappear would improve things. Is it just me?
