HTC Legend and Desire
Posted in: UncategorizedUnveiled in Barcelona this morning, the HTC Legend and Desire are the latest and—as the names imply—greatest Android phones to enter the market. Both devices feature the company’s Sense user interface which improves many facets of the Android experience. An evolution to the already rich and handy home screen experience, this new version of Sense includes a better people widget and the new Friend Stream, which integrates your friends’ Facebook, Twitter and Flickr activity in one view, not unlike Motorola’s MOTOBLUR.
The Legend (right) is reminiscent of the Hero, though a bit smaller and a lot sexier. Now fashioned from a single piece of aluminum, the ergonomic form feels even better in the hand. The trackball has been replaced with an optical sensor, though it’s surrounded by a physical button—the combination affords speed and usability. Other improvements include a faster processor and HVGA OLED screen.
The Desire’s form (above) is essentially a Nexus One, but with the same trackball-free input as on the Legend. It also uses the same super-fast processor as the Nexus One which promises to make the Sense experience flawless on its 3.7 inch AMOLED WVGA display.
According to HTC:
“The new HTC Legend will be available in Europe through Vodafone and in the direct channel beginning in April. It will roll out to other parts of the world including Asia in early Q2. HTC Desire will be broadly available to customers across major European and Asian markets in early Q2. The HTC Desire will be exclusively available in Australia through Telstra. The enhanced HTC Sense experience will also be offered as a free upgrade on the HTC Hero in Europe and Asia.”
