Fox Freeze felt certain their chair would be strong enough

pJames Van Vossel and Tom de Vrieze are duo behind Belgium-based A HREF=”http://www.foxandfreeze.com/” Fox and Freeze/A, a design partnership formed late last year. Their first project, above, is the ff1 indoor lounge chair, made from one square sheet of synthetic felt. And that’s one sheet in its entirety–there are no waste swathes cut from it, except for the little felt pills that drop out where the holes are drilled./p

p”It is not supported with wood or metal,” write the pair. “The structure is self-supporting, the flax rope contracts the chair and finishes the chair aesthetically. The shell and base are not separated from the sheet but remain connected.”/p

pSo is a single piece of twisted felt strong enough to be a chair? Well, you tell me:/p
