Exhibition: Karl Maier and Craig Redman

Karl Maier and Craig Redman (both members of design collective Rinzen), now live and work on opposite sides of the world –  Maier in Sydney, and Redman in New York. The pair have been collaborating on new artworks which will be shown in a new exhibition opening tonight in Sydney…

The exhibition, entitled Pick Me Up (nothing to do with the graphic art show of the same name that recently took place in London) will run until July 16 at the Monster Children Gallery and features work developed collaboratively over email.

“The show is the result of a year-long visual conversation between the two of us,” explains Maier. “Weekly, we traded artwork via email that served as both an update on each other’s lives and a commentary on the different, yet similar, worlds around us. The 14 resulting works are rife with double entendres, often including plays on words or forms, and the pieces provide a happy disjuncture between what is meant and what is perceived.”
