Fluid Forms, the creators of Cassius Lamp (a virtual-punching-bag-turned-lampshade), now bring us the Earth Brooch, a parametric system for replicating earth’s landscapes in tiny silver jewelry. After the customer previews and adjusts their chosen topography through Fluid Form’s specialized application, the form is 3D printed in wax and cast in silver, producing a brooch similar to the one pictured above, slightly larger than one inch square.

We tried it out on a few different landforms—not suprisingly, it works very well for mountainous places like Colorado, but what about flatter places like Chicago, IL? Cleverly, Fluid Forms provides a function that exaggerates the topography relative to itself, so even the subtlest changes in grade can be noticed.
