Designing gestural interfaces clearly ain’t easy

pNow that we’re moving beyond the mouse, gestural interface design really is turning into a free-for-all, with no universal language yet beyond tapping to “activate” and swiping to advance./p

pThe latest object seemingly designed to befuddle your parents is the A HREF=”http://www.gesture-remote.com/” Gesture Remote/A from a company called Ident Technology. Though they claim their device “transforms watching television into a magical, intuitive experience,” after watching the demo video, I disagree; because it picks up airborne finger motions in addition to surface touches, I think I’d constantly be activating the wrong thing, particularly when shifting the remote in my hand or setting it down./p
