Analarm by Industrial Facility at Dezeen Watch Store

The Temporium: our Dezeen Watch Store pop-up at The Temporium, a temporary department store opening in London on Thursday, will feature an exclusive UK preview of Analarm, the new Industrial Facility watch with a vibrating alarm.

Analarm by Industrial Facility at Dezeen Watch Store

The watch is modelled on a table-top alarm clock and can be set by winding the alarm hand to the required time.

Analarm by Industrial Facility at Dezeen Watch Store

A small motor vibrates quietly when the alarm is activated, alerting the wearer without disturbing those around them.

The watches will be available through Dezeen Watch Store and the designers’ own online store Retail Facility in the new year.

The information below is from Industrial Facility:

Analarm Vibration Alert Watch

Analarm is a discreet and effective analog alert watch with its interface modelled on the iconic alarm clock. When the alert is activated, a small motor creates a vibration on the wrist, similar to mobile phone vibrations, instead of sound. Its intelligence is in how simple it is to use. Unlike other alarm watches that are set through through many layers, Analarm’s interface is simple and straightforward. The alarm is set simply by moving the alarm hand to the desired time and lifting the alert button.

The vibration is a subtle pulsation with no audible sound. It is enough to wake up someone without affecting their partner; for daily alerts; and for daily reminders.

Every detail, from the interface to the size and material has been considered, resulting in fresh clarity for such a product.

Size 36 x 36 x 15mm

Vibration alarm with Hour, Minute and Second hands.
Stainless steel case and buttons with ionised plating, Japanese movement, mineral glass, Calf leather band.
Available in a black case with either clear glass and black dial; or green glass with white dial. The battery is replaceable and serviceable.

About Industrial Facility and IDEA Japan

Sam Hecht and Kim Colin founded Industrial Facility in 2002. The practice designs pleasingly simplified products with appropriate functionality. Following the successful re-interpretation of the travel clock Jetlag (2008), and stand-alone alarm clock Bell (2009), Industrial Facility examines the world of the alarm watch – a product that receives little design consideration and is somehow unfulfilling.

About Retail Facility

Truly international, consistently intelligent and influential, Retail Facility is a webshop that has become an important destination to view and purchase products designed by Industrial Facility that were previously only available in local markets. It has attracted a global audience who desire straightforward articles for everyday life, designed with the pleasure of use in mind.

The Analarm alert watch is the most recent of these projects and will be available from Retail Facility and the Dezeen Watch Store.

Blaue Blume by Undergrowth Design

Here’s some more information about the collection:

BLAUE BLUME TEA SERVICE

Blaue Blume was first conceived in 2007 when Tina Tsang decided to fuse ceramics with handmade antique lace. Her interdisciplinary background in illustration, fashion and animation come through in the design of all her products. She creates products that had character, charm, wit and seductive qualities that are elements that make the range irresistible and adorable. Blaue Blume aims to transform the traditional ritual of afternoon tea into a fun and flirtatious affair.

Blaue Blume by Undergrowth Design

Since the launch of the first teacup the range has expanded extensively due to demands and requests from catering companies and retailers. So far the range features a petit four stand (3 tiers with legs in whipped cream, mmm and a baby doll head), a milk jug, sugar bath (features a bathtub as the sugar container with legs as the sugar spoon), 3 sizes of cups, plates, a teapot and an ice cream bowl (features an upside down woman with upturned skirt). We have also made specific spoons to match the different cup sizes of the range in which E corresponds to the espresso cup, T for tea cup and C for coffee cup.
Other defining features include 9k gold shoes and inscriptions that are all handmade in London. Other products from undergrowth include: Interference range of salt and pepper shakers, Wash away soap dispenser, Art of the bottle, Lovesick bunnies, Atmospheric glass tumblers & wonderland cutlery. MORE additional NEW items in AUG 2010 release.

Blaue Blume by Undergrowth Design

DESIGN APPROACH
Undergrowth design breathes life into everyday objects to create an other- worldliness that tickles the imagination coupled with a mysterious or nostalgic feel. We love high attention to detail since we feel this part of the process enables a strong mood or feeling to be built by using the subtle details in the work. I also like to play with subconscious elements that create a strong sense of symbolism with memory evoking functions. We aim to make products that become an integral part of the customers identity and style and that is able to continually to enthral the user. We strive to make objects that become household conversation pieces.

Decanterlight by Lee Broom

Here’s some more information from Broom:

LEE BROOM DECANTERLIGHT COLLECTION

The Decanterlights were released in May 2010 and launched at Lee Broom’s latest bar and restaurant design Coquine. These truly original, chandelier-style lights were created as part of the overall interior for the venue after which Broom decided to build on the concept and develop a full collection to be sold globally.

Decanterlight by Lee Broom

The Decanterlights glow in clusters or individually creating a majestic centrepiece wherever they hang; each light is made from a lead crystal drinks decanter sourced from antique markets and vintage shops. Available in two styles, the decanters are either left in their natural clear crystal or a unique polished gold has been applied for a more contemporary finish.

Lee says, ‘The Decanterlights are not a limited edition collection and in fact this is the first, more accessible range I have designed; although each piece is indeed unique, the collection will only end when no more vintage, cut crystal decanters can be found.’
