Copy & Paste

Copy & Paste is a portable scanning and printing tool with which you can literally perform the said function. You don’t need your heavy printer or a photocopier machine. All you need is this handheld scanner that can transfer the images and text from one source to another source, but in the physical plane.

  • A button on the underside activates the scan function.
  • A button on the top activates the print function.
  • Copy & Paste can print directly into one’s notebook; additional paper is not required.

Copy & Paste is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winner.

iFresh Scan

The I Fresh is a food scanner equipped with a camera that captures the barcode on the food packaging, just before you store it in the fridge or cupboard. It hooks up to the fridge like a fridge magnet and can store data like the date of purchase. The idea behind the device is to make sure you consume fresh food and don’t eat the spoilt.

This is how it works:

  • After scanning, the user types in the number of days until the food expires on the micro screen.
  • I Fresh will remind the user to check the food in the fridge via light and voice.
  • A green interface indicates that the food is still of optimal nutritional value. When the interface turns orange, it indicates that the expiry date is drawing near.

I Fresh is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winner!

Scanning At Your Finger Tips

The Finger Scanner is a barcode scanner that you can put on your finger and scan stuff at the grocery store. The idea is to reduce the wait time at the checkout line and get billing done more efficiently. Besides the high cool-quotient, I like the progressive nature of this design. Minimal and functional!

Butterfly Catch

Children are inquisitive by nature and to satiate their curiosity regarding animals and insects; we have here the E-catch Net. Simulating the motions of a butterfly’s catching net, this device scans and then relays 3D info regarding the insect under scrutiny. A very play-way method of getting children involved regarding their environment.

E-catch Net is a 2013 IDEA Awards winner.

Scan the World in Seconds

No matter which way you slice it, scanning paper documents into digital files is a pain in the butt! To help us transition to a paperless world, the INBOX combination scanner, storage box and app-based interface provide a simple way to manage documents. Smaller (and way better looking) than your average scanner, the user simply places their photos or papers through the feed and the digital file is automatically and wirelessly transferred to your device! See the vid to see it in action!

Scanning Eraser

Seems like déjà vu but the concept of marrying an eraser with a scanner is a very good one. The ES-X not only erases the whiteboard but also transmits the scanned content to a laptop. It can also post selected portion to Facebook (and hopefully other social mediums), but the point is to make it easy for students to take notes. I am all for devices that make school life easier, what do you say?

Printing Braille!

The SimCheong Printer & Scanner concept is inspired by a Korean story and the motive behind it is very simple; making computer peripherals more accessible to the visually challenged. Basically the printer is capable of printing and scanning documents in Braille. It looks easy to operate and when supporting technology is available, I am sure it will be a great help.

4th Amendment Wear
