Milan 2013 a round-up

Milaan_1

Good morning it is Femke from Femkeido and it's so nice to be here on Bloesem today. Being an Interior Designer, Milan was the
place to be again last week. I traveled to Milan to be inspired at the Salone
del Mobile for the Milan Design Week. In this guest-post for Bloesem, I will be
sharing some of my pictures I took during my visit.

According to Tom Dixon Gold is the new copper .. what do you think?

The buzz at Rosanna Orlandi was cool as always. The best place to start my trip!

Georg

I love things colour and weird things… the table setting by my favorite design duo Scholten & Baijngs for Georg at Rosanna Orlandi was exactly my piece of cake.

Great to meet Sander Mulder in person at Tom Dixon. You can see him below walking towards his new clock,  TIME, to give it a polish using his own shirt.

Greens and plants we all love them so it was nice seeing some at wallpaper handmade this year.

Mirrors, many mirrors. I love mirrors, I also like the philosophy of mirrors. It is important to have a look in the mirror every now and then. To see what you’re doing and to decide whether you are taking the right steps. In the picture below a mirror at Droog 20+ and a just a random mirror in Ventura Lambrate.

Milan was again great to visit. Very interesting and inspiring over at my blog Femkeido you can read and see more impressions from my trip. ~ Femke

Monday’s quick start: Young designers at Fiera Rho

Fiera_eikels

A little while ago I told you how my friend Lisette Scheers, who lives here in Kuala Lumpur had visited the Milan Furniture fair and she made some fantatsic images of the things she liked. You might remember this post about Paola Lenti's new collection or Ventura Lambrate…  today just a summary of all the designs she saw  at Fiera Rho, in lIsette her words: "This year not so inspiring – a lot of the same – and everyone uses the same colours : fluo, light blue, ocre yellow and light green" … not sure of you agree ? I hear what she is saying but I do like these warm and cozy little stools… called the Bambi chairs by Takeshi Sawada.

Milan 2012: Studio Zeta

Copper_bike

And speaking of copper … how about a whole bike made of copper! While Lisette was in Milan visiting the Milan furniture fair 2012 she spotted Dutch designer Bart van Heesch at Studio zeta. He was one of fifty recent Design Academy Eindhoven graduates chosen to exhibit in Milan. And although he was there showcasing his luxaflex made from circles of brass  (see the images below in this post) . I also love to show this incredible bike and the cool accessories from him.

Another graduate who made it to THE '50' in Milan is Eva Smeltkop with her Refrigerator 02. A small, transparent storage appliance, in which sweets and snacks not only keep well, but also look good. Thank you Lisette for the images!

… the amazing outdoor collection by Paola Lenti blew Lisette away! And it confirms one more time how important colors are. The ton-sur-ton styling works just perfect and I wish I could have walked around in this garden myself.

If you could choose which gaden set would you get, the fuchsia, the blue or the ocre? I am in love with the pink wall.

I will leave you just with these images today … enough inpsiration I believe

Milan 2012: The French in Milan Ich & Kar

Notebooks

Friday at Zona Tortona or Spazio France … according to Lisette ( who visited the Milan 2012 furniture fair for us) the graphic presentation by Ich et Kar was fabulous and probably the best thing at the French design street.

We love Graphic design here at Bloesem, so this is a welcome contribution to our Milan 2012 report.

Milan 2012: Ventura Lambrate with studio Wendy Maarten and dmoch

Studiowendymaarten

Wendymaarten

At Ventura Lambrata Lisette spotted these beautiful Porcelain lamps by Dutch designers Studio Wendy Maarten for us. The lamps are – inspired by the harbour of Rotterdam and shipbuilding, this handmade lamp is adjustable in height with a pulley system. The use of black porcelain gives this old mechanism a sturdy new look – .

Dmosch

Beautiful lamps by dmoch called the Teresa lights.  dmoch are David Ericsson, Ania Pauser and Marcus Berg. dmoch's studio is situated in Stockholm and their work is a reflection of them. – One of the key elements for DMOCH is to find the balance between life and honest objects from a holistic point of view. To combine poetic ideas in the future, contemporary and historical ways

to find unexplored areas of design. Humour is an important ingredient that permeates the work of DMOCH, both to develop in the profession as designers but also and to keep their insanity. –

About Ventura Lambrata – Organisation in Design is a studio dedicated to managing a broad spectrum of tasks for designers, design studios and other design related companies. Organisation in Design is also the initiator of the Ventura Projects: Ventura Lambrate 2010, Ventura Lambrate 2011, Ventura Berlin 2011, Ventura Lambrate 2012 and a new Ventura project that will be launched in Belgium for the first time in the autumn of 2012.

The founders of Organisation in Design Margriet Vollenberg, Margo Konings and their team have over 10 years of experience in scouting and organising locations for exhibitions in Milan. In 2009, Organisation in Design started working on the project Ventura Lambrate, after being introduced to the Italian collector of contemporary art, cultural entrepreneur and architect, Mariano Pichler. Since 2000 he had been working on a major project to redevelop Milano’s Lambrate industrial area. The first Ventura Lambrate, the new design district in the city of Milano during the Fuori Salone, was created by Organisation in Design and launched in April 2010. –

dmoch's Teresa's lights and mobiles:

"The idea of the lamps is to add new values through interaction with different levels in the room. Allow the lights to become a part of the interior and the architecture. To elaborate how the shapes interact with their environment. The wall can be connected to the ceiling, the floor or other elements in the room. It’s not just light, but an object that connects other things. The user can take control over the lamp by changing its position each day, and at the same time change the environment it’s in.
Two counterweights in fabric with two different shades, two pulleys included. You can move the lamps as you please just fix the pulley where you want to have the light, together or apart, high or low."
