Charpentier Illusion Coffee Table

The latest from Peter Dudas, this coffee table’s distinct shape gives the illusion of mass without the weight. The base is made of lightweight aluminum sheet, the top is solid glass and holding it all together are 4 metal brackets that not only make it easy to break down and transport but finish off its skeletal, industrial aesthetic.

Imaginary Faces

Though its construction is skeletal and light, the Hedron table uses simple geometries to give the illusion of mass. The dual octahedron supports not only give the piece structural integrity, but create invisible planes that are easy to imagine as solid figures.

Prismatic Perfection

The Prism table tells a story. No matter what angle you look from, it will always show you something new! Like a prism refracting light, this table takes lines of color, emerging from a single bar, and stretches them across its frame. By weaving and twisting its linear geometry, the internal structure transforms from point to point. The maze of mixing colors creates surfaces that together form a beautiful whole.

Impossible Joint

At the intersection of traditional handicraft and modern design, the TER table and stool look to Japanese joinery to achieve aesthetically puzzling, minimal construction; all without the use of glue, nails, or screws. Each is composed of just nine pieces which are held together with the weight and pressure of the top plate. With the top in place, the design is sturdy and rigid. Remove it and the table and stool are flat pack ready!

An orange metal stand with triangular legs forms the base of the Gergeti coffee table by NVDRS.

The table’s ash wood top can be lifted off and independently used as a tray.

This surface has niches carved into the wood for holding a collection of accessories, which features an ashtray, a candlestick and a vase.

These three grey elements with orange accents can also be removed and used on their own.

The Flux Table

The intricate geometry of the Flux table is derived from “Toranj,” a mathematical pattern used in Iranian architecture that generally appears as a radial effect in a rhomboid contour. The resulting structure is a three dimensional extension of the pattern, with legs that appear to drip from the convergence points of the base pattern. Though its inspiration is rooted in tradition, the form and color palette are ultramodern and even a tiny bit gothic.

The Skinny on Stone

Piero Lissoni’s DRITTO collection of side, coffee and dining tables blur the line between the material limitations of minimalism. The tables achieve a bold, substantial aesthetic by using ultra-thin slabs of carrara marble as well as post-recycled pietra d’avola and lithoverde stone, but each maintains a sense of lightness from the sheer thinness of the tops complimented by simple, geometric frames. Now you can get that raw, stone finished look without the aesthetic and physical heaviness of large slabs.

Roaring 2010s Table

From looking at the Elvis table, I assumed that its name and curvaceous form were inspired by the famous singer’s quaft doo! To my honest disappointment, it was just a coincidence! The design is actually a semi-reproduction of a 1920s piece the commissioner had taken a photo of, but with designer David Savage’s own unique design language. It captures the 20s distinctive cultural edge in a modern form that’s simply beautiful.

Doodle-able Table

The Matchbox table was named for its unique resemblance to an old-school matchbox created by its contrasting materials. It merges playfulness with modern elegance in an occasional table you can write on. On one end, raw wood makes a clean surface for placing objects, and on the other is a chalkboard surface for drawing, scribbling ideas, or creating your own unique designs!

Undetectable Table

The Bordus coffee table takes surprising inspiration from the lines and angles of Stealth Fighters, applying these geometries to form a striking sculptural piece. The polarizing design may appear complex at first glance but is quite simple in form and construction! Nest-able side by side, unique combinations can be created by repeating tables to fit a variety of different sized and shaped spaces.
