Case Mate‘s new online design tool I Make My Case enables iPhone users to create custom cases by simply reworking illustrations already designed by renowned graphic artists such as Joshua Davis, Anthony Yankovic, Hannah Stouffer and others.

Launching today, the service is similar in concept to Uncommon Cases‘ recent application, but focuses more on utilizing their artists’ templates rather than uploading your own design or photograph.

A multitude of choices makes it easy to express creativity and individuality, first by choosing a background color, adding the various drawing elements and then finally by applying an effect, such as kaleidoscope or mirroring. How simple or intricate the final design looks is up to how many layers the user adds. One tool that we hope Case Mate will add in the future is an “edit undo” button, as it’s easy to get wrapped up in the fun and in the end want to remove components.

Once complete, sharing your design is also a snap. I Make My Case offers the solution of either downloading the design or uploading it to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. They also save it online for two weeks, allowing a creator to go back and preview or edit the design at any time.

Each customized case runs $40 or you can purchase your favorite artist’s design for $35 from the I Make My Case website.
