Design-minded New Yorkers, or those planning to visit Gotham this spring, are in for a treat. The students and staff of D-Crit, the Design Criticism MFA program at the School of Visual Arts, have assembled an outstanding line-up of speakers for the latest installment of their scintillating Tuesday night lecture series. This spring at D-Crit HQ, students will host and introduce speakers including branding champ Brian Collins (whose tête-à-tête with Debbie Millman is one of our all-time favorite episodes of Design Matters), filmmaker Gary Hustwit, and Art Institute of Chicago design curator Zoë Ryan. We suggest RSVPing to dcrit@sva.edu as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out on the lectures and lively discussion (followed by drinks and snacks). Here’s a quick look at what’s in store for spring:

  • March 2: Zoë Ryan, “Contemporary Constructions: Design at the Art Institute of Chicago”
  • March 16: Deborah Marton, “Design Trust: Building Partnerships to Improve Public Space”
  • March 30: Casey Jones, “E Pluribus Unum: Creating Design Policy in the U.S.A”
  • April 6: Brian Collins and John Fulbrook, “Defining the Story”
