Already the answer to our eco-bag dreams, Baggu’s latest design tackles the tote, adding smarter handles, an interior pocket and a few strategic snap closures to the basic concept. The Duck Bag, named for its recycled cotton material, ups the functionality by replacing the typical handle length with two options; shorter handles work for hand-carrying while a 40″ one is for over-the-shoulder use. Another welcome feature rarely found in a tote, the inside pocket keeps items like mobile phones and keys in close reach securing them with a snap.

The new cotton carry-all also looks stylish thanks to its colors, clean lines and elegant construction. When I took a Nutmeg model (pictured top left) out for a spin last weekend, I found that closing the top snaps creates a pleasing triangular shape. Carried by hand with the long strap hanging, it makes for a casual effect perfectly suited to laid-back strolls about town.

Available in eight colors (all pictured), Duck Bags sell on the Baggu site for $18 a pop.
