pYou might be seeing blog buzz (largely stemming from IElle Decor’s/I April issue shopping feature) featuring A HREF=”http://www.artemide.us/?page=main/flypageproduct_id=894″ Artemide’s Miconos lighting collection/A, pictured here. But though some are mistakenly ballyhooing the lights–which are beautiful, by the way–as a “new” line, you sharp-memory-havin’ ID fans will remember that the Miconos was designed back in 1998. Not that we’re complaining about the resurgence; anything that puts great design back on the map is a good thing, kind of like how a rash of ’80s movies put Aretha Franklin standards back on the charts./p

pThe Miconos Collection was designed by Ernesto Gismondi, the former aeronatucs engineer who went on to found Artemide back in 1959. The glass-globe-encased bare bulb designs come in table, pendant, wall, and free-standing forms. /p
