Art Center’s upcoming Car Classic show
Posted in: UncategorizedThis Sunday, Art Center will host their annual Car Classic, which “celebrates the very best in automotive design and affords the opportunity to showcase Art Center’s strong ties to industry.” Previous years’ events have had titles like “Coachbuilding,” “Dream Machines” and “Legends,” while this year’s is titled “By Air, Land & Sea:”
“There’s going to be a collection of cars that we picked, primarily in the ’50s, American cars, that have airflow design to them almost, and we’re going to arrange them so you can see these great fins and tails and lights that were designed almost with an airspace, airship, aircraft component,” [said Tim Walker, Art Center grad and Car Classic ’09 selection committee member].
There will be Amphicars too, which display the combination and trading of influence between boats and automobiles, as well as car-skiffs, vehicles that have wood on their outer bodies like boats.
