Architect Jan Kaplickys Final Project May Get Built After All

You’ll recall that, late last week, we reported that esteemed architect Jan Kaplicky had passed away. In that post, we’d said that his last big project, the Czech National Library, would likely never be built considering the years of difficulties it had suffered while Kaplicky was alive. Turns out there was another building he was working on and to add a more positive ending to a very sad story, there is a chance that it might start construction somewhat soon. The Architects’ Journal dug around and uncovered the concert hall he was designing in the Czech Republic town of Ceske Budejovice and has captured a single rendering of the building on their site, as well as a few additional details. But terrific to know that as soon as 2013, one of Kaplicky’s final ideas could come to life.
