Andy Rementer’s illustrated SKITSCH catalogue
Posted in: UncategorizedIt may well look like a fresh new comic book (and in many ways, it is) but you’re actually looking at a new catalogue for Italian designer furniture shop, SKITSCH…
“Mr. Bello in a SKITSCH World is essentially a catalogue of new furniture designs from SKITSCH,” explains illustrator Andy Rementer who created the 24 page, A5 book in collaboration with interior magazine Apartamento – which will distribute it as an insert in its next issue. “I’ve been working really hard on it with the team from Apartamento for the past few months,” continues Rementer “and it was just released on March 25 at the opening of the new SKITSCH store in London.”
Here are a bunch of spreads:
Instead of simply showcasing the product, Apartamento and Rementer created a narrative based around a character, Mr. Bello, who gets to know the brand, pick up some furniture, meet the designers, and visit the new store in London. Various SKITSCH store products are interwoven into the story, and there are also four more traditional catalogue pages featuring photography of products included in the booklet.
“It was a great project to work on,” Rementer tells us. “Apartamento did most of the writing and I illustrated the entire thing. In the end, it is this funny little booklet of comics, illustrations, funky typography and a cute story.”
Mr. Bello in a SKITSCH World will be distributed with the next issue of Apartamento, due out soon.
“Also, SKITSCH will be featuring many of the illustrations from the catalogue in their shop in Milan during the Salone del Mobile coming up this month,” adds Rementer. “Large-scale prints, and a slideshow of the drawings will be on disply in the shop.”
