American supercar: Beautiful design, lousy timing

It seems almost obscene to produce an American “supercar” at this point in our economic history, but California-based Devon Motorworks presumably started working on the Devon GTX well before the recession hit.

“By being mindful of classic design, and blending our own view of modern transportation, it’s our sincere hope that we will earn a permanent spot in the landscape of automotive history,” said CEO Scott Devon, who produced the supercar in conjunction with Swedish auto designer Daniel Paulin.

The $500,000 car recently debuted at the 2009 Pebble Beach Councours and will go on sale next year. Probably not going to move a lot of them in Detroit….
