Abdul Rashid’s Pac(k)age opener

Singapore-based Abdul Rashid’s Karter package opener has an emphasis on safety and a rather interesting source of inspiration.

Regarding the former:

Karter was designed to be a handy cutting utensil that’s safe even in a child’s hands. The carbon steel blade is tucked within the housing and the most minimal of its cutting edge is used in order for it to cut things….even the tiniest of hands cannot pry its way through the slit to get to the blade.

Regarding the latter:

The simple circular form is derived from the ubiquitous video game charachter Pac-Man.

Here’s to being thankful Rashid doesn’t go for easy puns…we would’ve called this thing the Pac-Hand.
