A journey into Tony Kaye’s mind – yikes!

You hear nothing from him for months, then he’s all over the place. After his impromptu Soho gig last week, Tony Kaye will be talking about his inspirations this Friday in London

“A Day in the Life of Tony Kaye” – A Journey into his Mind is the first in a series of Design Inspiration events at The Cube Store, a pop-up event space tied in to the UK launch of the Nissan Cube car.

Kaye is apparently going to talk about The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s album: “For me, my inspiration is all about Sgt Pepper’s. I think it is the greatest work of art made in my lifetime – and the greatest piece of recorded art ever.” he says in typically understated fashion.

Kaye’s talk (which starts at 7pm on November 27) will launch a six-week series of “avant-garde design, music, fashion, film, and art-themed evening experiences for the most creative, inquisitive and inspirational minds in the capital” at The Cube Store which is setting up shop at The Boiler House, Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, E1 until January.

As part of the same programme, on December 3 the Design Museum is staging When Ugly Meets Lovely at The Cube Store, a discussion led by Deyan Sudjic, with Nissan’s Alfonso Albaisa, Richard Seymour and Morag Myerscough, about “why and how taste evolves and the impact this has on the direction in which design progresses”.

There will also be a pop-up (that word again) store from über-cool Parisian retailer Colette
